Our son was just finishing up third grade, and he was starting to become very self-conscious about his speech... He (and we) were absolutely thrilled with the progress he made under your guidance... [he] had so much fun working with you, and was actually disappointed when we told him that his therapy was over! He wrote the attached note to you about a month after your last session... You made a real difference in [his] life -- THANK YOU!!!!!

Techniques

We are constantly investing in training our staff for your benefit. These well known therapy techniques are proven ways to help improve your quality of life.

DTTC (Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing) is a research based treatment for apraxia of speech that has proven to be very effective.

PROMPT training teaches cueing strategies to shape words and sounds. Learning happens in the context of common every day activities. Learning to say words in familiar surroundings helps people pick up new words and remember them more easily.

DIR/Floortime and Hanen Therapy are additional techniques which we specialize in for our pediatric clients. These philosophies emphasize that children learn best from the people they trust the most – their parents and family. We will help you learn simple techniques you can use daily with your child. Your child will learn new skills and have fun in the process.

I am a 24 year old female and I have had a speech impediment since I was 9 years old. As I got older, my anxiety of speaking in public got worse. My stutter became so prominent that it affected my career. It inhibited me from clearly articulating myself during interviews for potential jobs. Susan and her team gave me the skills needed to control my stutter, which consequently helped grow my confidence in myself as well as in my speech. Now, my speech is so good that no one notices my speech impediment unless I tell them about my stuttering problem. I cannot thank Susan and her team at Circle Speech enough for changing my life.

Speech Therapy

We take a collaborative approach to speech therapy. That means we will work with you to create sessions that address your goals and work for you. We’ll even teach you techniques to work on in between our sessions.

We’ll start with a few questions and then work with you to get a sense of your (or your child's) skills and needs. We want to know your goals. What have you tried already? Where do your frustrations lie?

One of our speech therapists will work with you to assess the appropriate developmental stage. We’ll spend a session learning about the types of activities you (or your child) likes, so we can find the most effective strategies to focus upon.

After that session, we will determine a path to move forward and give you tactics to implement to help reach your speech and language goals. You’ll incorporate these easy activities into your routine. The result is early and ongoing progress.
